Brazil misplaced the streets, so the World stole the magic – The Panorama Uganda
[wordads]
Immanuel Ben Misagga
Actual speak: Joga Bonito didn’t die. It simply obtained a European visa.
Our Majid Musisi was offered to Europe when he was 25 years and having performed 5 seasons in a single membership, a high scorer in 3 consecutive seasons, however now we’re promoting gamers at 16 years, Jackson Mayanja was offered when he was above 20 years he made a mark in Egypt Cairo
Brazil hasn’t lifted a World Cup since 2002. No Ballon d’Or since Kaká. And yeah — that 7-1 at dwelling nonetheless stings like salt in an open wound. However this isn’t dangerous luck. That is blood loss. Gradual, regular, self-inflicted.
THE PLATE GOT SOLD. THE GARDEN GOT PAVED.
.We Ship Our Youngsters Earlier than They Can Drive
Europe indicators gamers at 16. Vini Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick, Charles Bbale — offered earlier than they performed 50 video games for the house crowd.
What we misplaced: Your child in Kampala wears a Madrid shirt, not SC Villa one. No native heroes. The stadium lights keep on, however the soul left on a flight to Spain.
The bitter reality:
Golf equipment are broke. A $60M sale feeds the entire membership for 2 years. So we public sale childhood. Aptitude will get changed by “tactical self-discipline” at 17. They train him to cross, to not dance.
. Coaches Are Taking part in Checkers in a Chess World,
Brazil invented the attractive sport, then refused to replace the software program.
Similar 10 coaches. Similar 4-2-3-1. Similar worry of dropping.
Europe spent 20 years with laptops and GPS vests. We’re nonetheless trusting the quantity 10 to drag magic from his socks.
Outcome: Watch 2022 vs Croatia. 1-0 up, further time, and no one knew find out how to kill the sport. As a result of “improvise” isn’t a sport plan when the opposite staff has 3 years of urgent drills.
. The Calendar Is a Meat Grinder
Nationwide league. 80 video games a yr.
Gamers don’t practice — they survive. Ice baths and flights. No time to educate. No time to get higher.
Golf equipment are $300M in debt. Pitches are useless. Sports activities science is a rumor. However man, the TV deal pays Flamengo 25x what the small golf equipment get. So the wealthy get richer, and the remaining promote their greatest child earlier than July.
Federations grow to be Crime Scenes not soccer administration
Three ex-presidents banned by FIFA. Cash for grassroots? Vanished.
No undertaking. No imaginative and prescient. The Ancelotti circus in 2023 mentioned all of it. Tite walks, then three interim coaches in 12 months.
Germany crashed in 2000 and rebuilt from the bottom up. Brazil crashes and blames the striker. Neymar occurred
.The Streets Went Quiet
Joga Bonito was born on concrete. Futsal. Seashore. Tight areas, no worry. Ronaldinho discovered to smile with a ball as a result of there was nowhere else to go.
Now? Telephones. Crime. Futsal courts grew to become parking tons.
Dad and mom inform youngsters “Don’t dribble, you’ll lose it.” Brokers scream if a 15-year-old tries a step-over. “Be Casemiro, not Denílson.” Secure sells. Magic doesn’t.
So the child kills the artist in him to grow to be a product. And we surprise why no one entertains us anymore.
BUT HOLD ON — IS IT REALLY OVER?
Lifelike view: Brazil nonetheless exports 1,200+ gamers. Greater than anybody. We received Copa America 2024. The soil nonetheless grows ballers.
The distinction: The world caught up. France has academies + athletes. England has cash + ways. Spain has a system.
In 1994 you may out-skill everybody. In 2026, ability with out construction will get you despatched dwelling within the quarters.
THE BITTER LESSON:
Brazil offered its soul to outlive. Golf equipment promote youngsters to pay mild payments. Youngsters commerce avenue for system. Coaches copy as an alternative of create. Golf equipment counts money, not Cups.
And right here’s the ultimate kick:
After they loot the magic, they invite us to the desk to barter how we’ll clap once they win with it. We raised the expertise, Europe perfected it, and now we purchase the jersey to look at – our-Joga Bonito come dwelling sporting one other flag. They steal your coronary heart, then pressure you to debate the worth of your personal tears.
How Uganda soccer and Brazil can repair it.
Preserve the youngsters until 21. Burn the loopy calendar. Jail the fits. Rebuild futsal. Cease importing coaches — export ours.
Keep in mind: The plate feeds you as soon as. The backyard feeds your grandkids.
You don’t purchase one other Pelé. You develop him the place the soil continues to be wild, and also you shield him earlier than the brokers come.
Joga Bonito isn’t useless.
It’s simply dribbling in Madrid, talking Spanish, and questioning why the house crowd stopped singing.

US Open 2026 results: Alexander Zverev beats Ben Shelton for second Grand Slam title
Going into the 2026 season, few people would have backed Zverev to win two Grand Slam tournaments, with the German having already lost three major finals in a career which looked in danger of not living up to expectation.
But injuries to his biggest rivals – Alcaraz missing the French Open and Wimbledon, with Sinner ruled out of the US Open – opened the door for Zverev.
A below-par Zverev scraped through the opening rounds at Flushing Meadows in a series of early-morning finishes, but he gradually improved over a fortnight where he did not play a top-20 opponent until Shelton.
Zverev had not lost to Shelton in their five previous meetings and immediately capitalised on a nervy start by his opponent.
Shelton double-faulted on break point in the first game of the match, handing over the type of initiative that opponents often struggle to wrestle back from Zverev.
Through the strength of his first serve, and his ability to unpick Shelton’s weaker backhand in the baseline exchanges, Zverev rolled through the opening set and clinched it when Shelton hit another double fault on set point.
Zverev continued to patiently draw mistakes from Shelton in the second set, but without being gifted a break when his only opportunity arrived in the fourth game.
He instead showed why he has a strong tie-break record with another nerveless display and, unlike in the 2020 US Open final when he lost from a two-set lead, kept his composure in the pressure moments to secure a commanding victory.
Addressing his team which is led by his father Alexander senior and brother Mischa, Zverev said: “We went 30 years without winning a Grand Slam title and now won two in the span of three months.
“I think God has seen how hard we have worked, how hard we have suffered and how much pain we went through.
“I think 2026 is the outcome of all the years that happened before.”

Erling Haaland goal: Was Haaland’s derby winner a VAR error?
With Haaland’s goal settling the match, United were unsurprisingly disappointed by the decision.
“I think it was offside,” said Martinez. “And what I can’t understand is the rules. I want to be calm now, I want to control myself.
“It’s so hard because you lose a derby, you lose three points at home, and every season they’re [referees] coming to our club, they explain for one hour the rules, and they look so confident with that, and then after [there are] five or six people doing these kind of mistakes in the Premier League – it’s unacceptable.
“It’s the best league in the world, you have the best teams in the world, the best players in the world, and now we have to go home with this injustice.”
United boss Carrick also expressed his confusion.
“We put things in place in the game now, we have people in offices with all the screens for this decision,” he said.
“It’s more worrying about if that’s the interpretation of football now. If that’s the interpretation of not interfering in the game now, that’s really worrying for me. It’s a staggering explanation.
“The decision isn’t going to change the season, but it’s had a major impact on the game.”
Wayne Rooney, part of the BBC’s MOTD2 team, said: “Surely it’s offside. Martinez is impacted by Fernandez’s movement, and he is offside.”
Gary Neville said on Sky Sports: “I think we’ll see some sort of apology from the referee’s association, there’s no doubt Fernandez is playing that ball and is trying to put off Martinez. I think it’s one they’ll recognising they got wrong.”
Micah Richards added: “I think it’s been a bad day for referees. They got the Foden decision wrong and the Fernandez decision wrong. I think they got it so wrong but I don’t think it takes anything away from City’s performance.”
Meanwhile, City boss Maresca said: “I think it was onside clearly so it’s good.”

World Athletics’ stance on Russian athletes ‘won’t change’ – Sebastian Coe
World Athletics president Sebastian Coe says the governing body’s stance on sanctions imposed on Russia will not change.
Athletes from Russia and Belarus have been banned from international track and field competition by World Athletics since the country’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The Russian Athletics Federation has filed a new claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) to challenge the sanctions imposed by World Athletics.
But Coe said: “Our position hasn’t changed. This isn’t about politics or passports, it’s about the integrity of competition.”
Russian Athletics says the ongoing sanctions “infringe on the organisation’s rights”, adding they “prevent it from fully representing the interests of Russian athletes on an international level”.
Should the Cas ruling come down in favour of Russian Athletics, the way could be opened for Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete at the next Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles in 2028.
Coe, who won two Olympic gold medals during a celebrated athletics career, has pledged to attend the Cas hearing to help present the case of World Athletics.
Speaking on Sunday at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, the 69-year-old Briton said: “From the age of 18, I believe that every position I’ve taken, whether it was during the creation of the first IOC athletes’ commission or positions I’ve personally taken, it’s about integrity and it’s about competition.
“That matters to me, so our position won’t change.”
Coe added that the issue needed to be “resolved” and that the overall objective was to have a “full complement of people on a global level competing in our sport”.
Russian Athletics executive director Boris Yaryshevsky, in an interview with the Russian TASS news agency last week, criticised Coe’s intention to attend the Cas hearing.
“It is very clear that he has something personal,” said Yaryshevsky.
“He is no longer speaking on behalf of World Athletics as a federation. He is speaking for himself, saying that he personally will go to court to defend this.
“I believe this is simply his personal position, not the position of World Athletics.”
The stance taken by World Athletics differs to that taken by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as well as the governing bodies of numerous other sports.
The IOC provisionally lifted Russia’s suspension in July, potentially allowing the country to compete at the 2028 Olympics Games in Los Angeles.
Other sporting federations, including World Gymnastics, World Aquatics and World Boxing, have this year removed restrictions on Russian athletes competing.
Some Russian and Belarusian athletes competed as neutrals at both the 2024 Paris Games and this year’s Winter Olympics in Milan.
